Groundbreaking Ceremony in Wallenhorst for majamo's New Fulfillment Center
Pillar Festival in Wallenhorst: Ahead of Schedule
In modern logistics construction , things often move faster than expected: In the “Am Schwarzen See” industrial park in Wallenhorst, the new, approximately 20,000-square-meter fulfillment center for e-commerce specialist majamo is taking shape at an impressive pace. Where there was recently just an empty lot, more than half of the 166 precast concrete columns and the first wall elements are already in place. About 90 guests—including the teams from majamo and fabrikon, representatives from politics and government, and project partners—celebrated this visible progress at a festive topping-out ceremony.
"We didn't want to wait for the topping-out ceremony"
The excitement about the new building is palpable. “What’s a ‘Stützenfest,’ anyway? We didn’t want to wait for the topping-out ceremony,” smiles Florian Bußmann, founder and CEO of majamo, in his opening remarks. “According to the construction site reports from our general contractor, fabrikon , we’re actually ahead of schedule right now. Now we have to plan the move to the new logistics center even faster.”
“majamo’s dynamic growth and ‘can-do’ mentality remind us very much of our own growth story. That connects us both professionally and personally,” explains Sebastian Horn from the fabrikon sales team. “What we see on the construction site is far more than just precast concrete elements—it’s the reliable structural backbone for majamo’s future.”
Space for People and Sustainable Processes
The new building sets new standards in several respects. Built to the rigorous EH 40 (GEG 2023) energy-efficient building standard, with the goal of achieving DGNB Gold certification and featuring a large-scale rooftop solar array, it is a sustainable property that will provide space for approximately 120 new jobs.
By spring 2027, the 33,000-square-meter site will feature 19,300 square meters of logistics warehouse space, 1,610 square meters of mezzanine space, and 430 square meters of modern office and common areas, including a foyer, gallery, and event space. In addition to functionality, the focus is on people: Co-founder Maria Bußmann emphasizes, “The facility provides space, and technology brings speed—but our flexibility and quality come from the people who work here.”
